Equipped since 2017 with a new 8K LASER HIGH DEFINITION LASER PROJECTION system and a real-time astronomical simulator, the Planetarium of the Cité des sciences et de l' industrie is the second theater in the world to be equipped with this state-of-the-art equipment, after the one in Houston (United States). Thanks to this unique technology, the immersive films and 360° shows commented by a scientific mediator of this planetarium offer a very high resolution immersion with a unique sensation of depth and immensity.
At the Palais de la découverte, the planetarium consists of a dome fifteen meters in diameter, the center of which is a planetary dome reproducing a starry sky of exceptional quality.
Each session is commented by a scientific mediator and is an excellent introduction to astronomy. Visitors can thus observe galactic or extragalactic objects visible to the naked eye as well as all celestial phenomena from any point on Earth, at any time in the past or in the future.
